News: Interior Designer and Television Personality Nate Berkus to Unveil New Home Products in 2012  |

The team at Apex Wood Floors would also like to congratulate Janet Davidsen, principal interior designer of Wheaton, Ill.-based Details in Design, Inc., on her 1st-place win in a furniture design competition sponsored by the Grange showroom in Chicago’s Merchandise Mart. Janet is a member of the ASID-IL Chapter (American Society of Interior Designers). She entered the “Grange Chicago Colorful Exceptions Furniture Competition” this summer.
Each entrant had the task of designing a specific piece of furniture: a three-drawer chest, a two-drawer single chest, an oval coffee table, a cupboard or a vintage hall cabinet. Janet selected the two-drawer chest and named it the “Lizzie Chest” in honor of her younger sister Elizabeth who participates in the Sunshine House in Door County, Wis. The Sunshine House, Inc. is a diverse community service organization whose purpose is to achieve full participation in society with people of special needs. The “Lizzie Chest” will now be manufactured in the Grange Furniture factory in Lyon, France, and will be sold at auction. Proceeds from that auction will benefit the Sunshine House.

We want to share a couple of images from a project we just wrapped up for an East Coast client. They called on our team to provide the perfect combination of elegance, warmth and character they wanted their flooring to reflect.
Together with their interior designer, we chose a customized hand-selected, Character Rift-and-Quartered White Oak hardwood floor. The stunning wide plank boards are each 6’ or more in length, and are hand-crafted with an oil-and-wax finish. The deep, rich tones will complement the home’s traditional furnishings, décor and color palette.
