Apex Wood Floors featured on the cover of Veranda Magazine

We’re thrilled to share that Apex Wood Floors is featured on the cover of the January/February 2025 issue of Veranda Magazine, highlighting our role in crafting the custom floors for a remarkable Chicago family home. Designed by the incredibly talented team at Summer Thornton Design and HLA Architects, this project is a testament to thoughtful collaboration, precision, and artistry.

The Heart of the Home: The Two-Story Oak Paneled Library

One of the most breathtaking features of the home is the two-story library, paneled in warm oak and filled with character and sophistication. At the center of it all are the custom-colored herringbone wood floors, which were meticulously crafted in the ApexLAB to perfectly complement the room’s timeless aesthetic.

These floors were crafted using Hickman Woods’ product, with four unique cuts of oak combined to create visual depth and texture. Finished with a Vesting finish for durability and elegance, the result is a one-of-a-kind look that flows seamlessly throughout the home, tying each space together.

ApexLAB: Where Customization Comes to Life

The custom herringbone floors in this home are a perfect example of what’s possible through ApexLAB. Our proprietary wood staining and finishing process allows us to create tailored looks that fit any design vision. From selecting the right cuts of wood to achieving the perfect custom color, our team worked closely with the designers to ensure that the flooring not only met but elevated the project’s overall aesthetic.

Thank You to Our Partners

We’re truly honored to have been part of such an inspiring project. A special thanks to Summer Thornton Design, HLA Architects, and the entire team who made this masterpiece possible. Projects like this remind us why we’re so passionate about wood flooring and collaboration.
